Revised
Medical Standards
Because
of a lawsuit which Attorneys Brian E. Simoneau and Timothy
M. Burke recently filed against the Human Resources
Division, HRD has revised their
Regulations for the Initial Medical
and Physical Fitness Standards for Municipal Public Safety
Personnel.
The revisions focused on the diabetes mellitus category
under the endocrine and metabolic system for police officer
candidates. Prior to the revisions, candidates who used
insulin pumps were automatically disqualified. Now,
candidates with insulin pumps will be evaluated on a case-by
case basis.

Police Legal Defense
Attorney Timothy M. Burke is offering a Legal Defense Service to Massachusetts Police Officers. This service includes 24 hour emergency response to the scene of any line of duty critical incident. Given the nature of police work, and the litigious nature of our society, having an experienced attorney such as Mr. Burke not only "on retainer" but also "on-call" is absolutely indispensable. A practicing lawyer since 1974, Attorney Burke has successfully defended a number of police officers in both criminal and civil cases. Contact Attorney Burke's office at 781-455-0707 or click here for more information.
Appeals Court Vacates Restraining Order Issued Against Police Officer
Attorney Simoneau recently reversed a District Court
Judge's decision to grant a G.L. c. 209A restraining order
against a police officer. In addition to convincing a
District Court Judge to discontinue the order at the
one-year hearing, over the plaintiff's strenuous objection,
Attorney Simoneau persuaded the Massachusetts Appeals Court
to vacate the original order. Click here for the Lawyers'
Weekly article.
